FrameSpace FS-1 spacers by FrameTek are a mechanically permanent art-glass separator that grips over the edge of the glass or acrylic in picture frames to space the art away from the glazing. This helps prevent mold growth, paper buckling, image transfer and adhesion to the glazing. They are quick and easy to use and are easily removable to clean or replace the glass. FrameSpace FS-1 spacers are made from a neutral pH plastic and can be used to frame photographs, watercolors, pastels, or any paper art or documents without using mats. Spacers also help prevent glass chipping in metal frames and keeps the glass from shaving bits of wood, leaf, or paint from the rabbet in wood frames.

The product itself (frame, glass, matte and backing) was very nice and exactly as expected. The spacers were flimsy and very difficult to properly install on the glass. I ended up discarding them as unusable.

I ordered a set of the 3/16” and another set of the 1/8” spacers. They are so flimsy that the “S” groove will not stay in place on the glass or on the mat board either one during assembly of the art package. At some point I decided that even if I could get them in position momentarily during framing, I wouldn’t want to depend on them staying in place if anything shifts in the art package. I will go ahead and make my own spacers with mat board. I have appreciated my other purchases from Frame Destination but cannot recommend this product.

FrameSpacer Spacers worked great for me, even on large items as long as 44". They are far superior to the adhesive strips, and I replaced all my adhesive strips with these mechanical ones. The adhesives lose strength and can sag over time. The adhesive can also adhere to the frame rabbets. One question: I appear to have ordered two different sized spacers in different orders. Is there any functional advantage to one size over another? They all seem to keep the artwork away from the glazing. Thank you.

These are little plastic strips that clip on to the glass and hold the artwork a little way away from the glazing. They work fine. You may have to trim them a little bit as they are cut to the size of the glass; they need to be just a bit smaller. Next time I might make my own spacer from a strip of mat board- it wouldn’t be hard and it would be easy to get whatever depth I wanted.

I recently purchased $500 worth of frames and supplies and I was extremely happy with everything except these spacers they were cheap and flimsy and I did not like how they worked so I had to go out locally and buy ones that were actually cheaper and better.

Probably adequate for small scale work...no adhesive and flimsy for larger pieces ..40” just does not work. The frames are fantastic but feel I was taken with the spacers. I usual order from a different company,whose are more rigid and have adhesive strips.
