About this item
The Nielsen 117 frame, also known as the Arthaus profile, was inspired by the Bauhaus movement of the 1900s. Our natural collection features subtle finishes in shades of gray. Perfect for posters and decorative framing projects that feature natural elements and muted landscapes . This frame stands over an inch off the wall with an unusual return on the face giving framed art a slightly recessed appearance.
For bright colors checkout 117V metal frame.

Warning: Frame size equals the size of the frame’s components, for example, the glass, mat board, and backer board. We automatically cut the inside of our frames 1/8 inch larger to allow for size tolerances, components that are not truly square, and to prevent binding and warping with temperature changes.
The Nielsen Profile 117A metal picture frame is available in three finishes with a brushed look, Brushed Aluminum Satin, Brushed Satin Nickel, and Brushed Satin Pewter. For other colors see our Nielsen Profile 117 and 117V which are the same profile in different colors. The frame has a rabbet of 13/16" and is 7/16" wide, with a height of 1-5/16". Frame Destination frames are cut approximately 1/8" larger to ensure that all frame components, including mat board, glazing, and backing, will fit properly within the finished frame. Metal frames without contents may be shipped unassembled. Let us know if you have an assembly preference.
Available colors:
- Brushed Aluminum Satin - 117400

Excellent product and packaging.
I’ve ordered from Frame Destination for several years, but due to their large size, I have always picked up my items at their store. I just had one item this time, and it was delivered via UPS well-packed. It looks perfect framing the mirror that I bought it for.

Thank you for the review, Jim! Our local pickup is only temporarily disabled due to the COVID crisis. We hope to have this feature back up and running soon!

Mid-Tier Pricing, High-End Quality and Service
I recently purchased some art prints to hang in my apartment. As they were not my own photographs or limited-edition prints, I did not want to spend hundreds on frames. However, I have been burned by value offerings in the past from other online framers and major retailers: poor-quality acrylic, cheap frame material, low-quality mounting hardware, etc. I found Frame Destination and decided I would give them a try. I settled on the Nielsen 117A frame, but they have quite a few different frame styles to choose from! I also liked that they had a wide variety of matting options, glass/acrylic, and backing materials. I ended up ordering two frames and chose to upgrade the backing material to acid-free 3/16 foam board and the front to UV-filtered art glass. The frame arrived very quickly and EXTREMELY well packaged in multiple layers of bubble wrap. The build quality is top notch: all the hardware is great, the dimensions are dead-on with what I ordered, and the attention to detail is apparent in all areas. Even the edges of the metal frames were slightly filed as not to be a cutting hazard, but they still fit together perfectly with no visual gap. Perhaps the only negative I can say is that the images of the frame samples on the product listing do not do the finished product justice! The quality of the brushing cannot be seen on the product listing. Overall, if you’re looking for a high-quality frame made by people who care, look no further!

Easiest picture frame ever!!
My husband put our picture in this frame. He said it was the easiest framing he’s ever done. It’s also a beautiful frame. We are very happy with our frame purchase.

Perfect Frames For Drawings
I love these frames! They are high quality and go together easily. The profile of the frame allows a nice relief from the wall and depth around the front of the frame also adds an important dimension. The pewter color is the perfect tone for graphite drawings. They offer a professional presentation of artwork in a gallery setting and have had other artists, as well as the juror of a show, ask where I get my frames. I've already purchased over a dozen of these frames and will be back each time I finish another drawing.

Great source for on demand customs frames
Very impressed with their consistency. Every frame I have ordered from them - the order has been perfect. Most importantly, they really take the time to package it well so after traveling across the country your frame/mats/etc arrive in pristine condition.
