It may or may not have a mat board and glazing \u003Cspan class=\"s2\">(the glass or acrylic portion of the frame package).\u003C/span>\u003C/p>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The \u003Cstrong>two main measurements\u003C/strong> needed to calculate the outside dimensions of a picture frame package are:\u003C/p>\n\n\n\n\u003Col class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\u003Cli>Outside dimension of the components (what you are framing\u003Cspan class=\"s2\">, i.e. art plus mat\u003C/span>)\u003C/li>\n\n\n\n\u003Cli>Width of the picture frame moulding\u003C/li>\n\u003C/ol>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Example\u003C/strong>:\u003C/p>\n\n\n\n\u003Cul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\u003Cli>The outside dimension of what you are framing measures 11 inches wide by 14 inches high.\u003C/li>\n\n\n\n\u003Cli>Your picture frame moulding is one inch wide.\u003C/li>\n\u003C/ul>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Now comes a little bit of algebra (stay with me!) with its golden rule: \u003Cspan class=\"s1\">W\u003C/span>hatever you do to one side, you must do to the other. If an artwork is 14 inches wide (inside width of frame), the outside width of the frame is 1.5 inches longer on each end to accommodate the joining of the frame pieces at 45 degrees.\u003C/p>\n\n\n\n\u003Ch2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Now Let's Calculate the Outside Dimensions of Canvas Floater Frames\u003C/h2>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>A \u003Cspan class=\"s1\">canvas in a floater frame\u003C/span> is a type of framing package where a gallery-wrapped canvas is displayed within a \u003Ca href=\"https://www.framedestination.com/ctg/custom-frames/canvas-floater-frames.html\">floater frame\u003C/a>. The floater frame is cut larger than the canvas, creating the illusion that the canvas is “floating” within the frame.
