How to Order Custom Picture Frames

Our website supports full custom picture frames granting you full control over the opening dimensions, mat boarders and frame size. The website will estimate shipping charges (except for special charges such as oversize) and calculate volume price discounts.

All of the components of your custom frame can be found under “Components” in the top menu bar. Once you select the desired component simply select “custom” in the size drop down. You can order all or part of a complete picture frame. Most picture frames have 4 primary components.

1. Moulding (the wood or metal frame itself)
2. Mat board (optional)
3. Mounting board (supports the picture and forms the back of the frame)
4. Glazing (glass or acrylic protective cover)

We have over 60 different picture frame sizes. If you just need a special mat opening you can still order FRAMES -> COMPLETE KIT but select NO MAT and then order the custom mat under COMPONENTS - MAT BOARD.

If your picture frame will be using a mat then we recommend you start with the mat board. Once you decide which mat type just select “custom” in the size pull-down after clicking on “More Info”. A new screen will appear that will allow you to enter the opening dimensions, and borders. The website will calculate the outer dimension or picture frame size. The opening of the mat will be the exact size we cut it to. If you would like it to overlap your image a little then please be sure to specify an opening size that is a little smaller than your image. For additional help: mat measurement instructions.

The outer dimensions of the mat are the dimensions you will use as the custom size for the picture frame moulding, mounting board, and glass or acrylic. The mat board, mounting board, glass and acrylic will all be cut to the exact dimensions specified. We will automatically cut the picture frame moulding 1/8 inch larger so everything will fit inside of the frame with out binding or buckling.

Custom Frame Pricing: Some companies will just round a custom size up to the next standard frame size. Our custom frame prices are based on the exact size of your frame. Once you place your custom components in the shopping cart you can change the quantity of the items to see the volume discounts (4, 10, 25, 50, 100…). We have a $2.50 setup charge mat board and acrylic. There is not setup charge for custom moulding, or mounting board. If you select a custom mat and design it to have one of our standard frame sizes then you will only pay setup charge on the mat and not the glass or acrylic. In this case your total setup charge will be $2.50 instead of $5. If you order 10 complete custom picture frames of the same size the custom setup charge is just 50 cents per frame.

Hanging kit for Wood Picture Frames

All of our wood picture frames use the wood picture frame hanging kit. This kit contains 2 screw hole hangers to hold the wire, plastic coated wire and two wall bumpers.

Hanging kit for Metal Side-Loading Picture Frames

This kit is for all of our custom metal picture frames and our Nielsen Photography Collection Photo Frames such as the11x14 photo frame. This kit includes two omni hangers for holding the wire, plastic coated wire, and two wall bumpers to protect the wall where the picture frame is hung.

Hanging kit for Metal Back-Loading Picture Frames

This kit is for our Nielsen Gallery Collection Photo Frames such as their 11x14 photo frame for 11x14 photographs. This kit includes two squeeze clip hangers for holding the wire, plastic coated wire, and two wall bumpers to protect the wall where the picture frame is hung.
