Picture Frame Glass and Glass Replacement
All Artglass products are 2mm thick, smooth, scratch-resistant, easy to clean, and can feature:
- UV Protection: Provides more than 90% protection from harmful UV energy
- Anti-Reflective: Virtually invisible glass with a smooth surface that allows the true colors, texture and details of the artwork to emerge unaltered
- Water White substrate: No green tint or optical distortions
The picture below shows the range of UV protection possible for your artwork. The best protection is complete darkness, as absence of light provides 100% protection from all visible and non-visible light. This equals 0% visibility and is akin to storing your art in the light-proof safe. The next level is 97% or more UV protection, which is available with glass such as Tru Vue® Conservation Clear® or Museum Glass® glass; however this reduces some of the visibility of the art. After that is Artglass UV protection, it allows more visibility of the art while still providing over 90% UV protection. The greatest visibility of 100% can only be achieved by using no glass and no protection.
Glazing is one of the most important yet overlooked parts of a complete picture frame package. Despite its relative fragility, glass allows the viewer to see the framed art unobstructed but protected; this is why Frame Destination is proud to carry four types of high-quality glass options for glazing.
Aside from our standard clear picture frame glass, we carry ArtGlass scratch-resistant glazing with a special UV filter that provides protection above 90%—ensuring that your artwork won’t yellow or fade. Our anti-reflective glass, also from ArtGlass, is made with a coating that reduces reflections to less than 1%, allowing you to see your photographs unhindered. Both features can be combined into one for extra protection and clear view in ArtGlass UV anti-reflective glazing.

About Framing Glass
Framing glass is the traditional material for glazing a framed artifact such as a painting or photograph. Despite its weight and relative fragility, many art lovers still prefer the luster and sheen of genuine glass. We offer high quality clear framing glass as well as specialty GroGlass Artglass. Glass has the advantage of being typically less expensive than acrylic. It's also very stiff and will not bow. In addition, glass will not generally build up static charges like acrylic, which can attract dust into the framing package.
