Picture Frame Glass
|
Framing glass is perhaps the most important, yet most overlooked of picture framing supplies. The glazing material is what protects the image from damage caused by the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Without high quality framing glass or other glazing material, you image will soon fade and take on a “washed-out” appearance.
Framing glass is the traditional material for glazing a framed artifact such as a painting or photograph. Frame Destination offers quality glazing materials in your choice of acrylic or genuine glass. Despite its weight and relative fragility, many art lovers prefer the luster and sheen of genuine glass. It is more scratch resistant than acrylic, and easy to polish when necessary.
Framing glass at Frame Destination is available in 2 millimeter thicknesses; prices start at $1.40 per sheet. Because it weighs substantially more than acrylic and is more likely to break during shipment, Frame Destination only provides shipment of glass up to 20 by 24 inches; glass larger than 20” by 24” requires shipping via palletized freight. For this reason, it is important to examine your shipment as soon as it arrives.
